High in the Grass (RT, 4:04, 2021)

In this music video for Sleater-Kinney, what could seemingly read as horrific transforms into euphoric.  As the bodies surface in this tactile grassland, an ecstatic recovery is revealed.  After pandemic lockdowns and nationwide social justice protests, we see the failures of larger systems but also radical possibilities. Communities have stepped up to fill a void to deal with trauma and tend to distress. The video for High in the Grass channels this complexity, imagining liberatory healing and new futures rendered in a hybrid live-action and animated world.
